2016 is the year of Belgium, and The Spotlight on Belgium gala was as impressive as ever with a culturally rich cuisine, Belgian brews, and delightful entertainment with a Flemish flair.
What better venue than The Club, with panoramic views of the Magic City night lights where guests were welcomed by valet and the red carpet. During the cocktail hour, everyone had the opportunity to mix and mingle with who’s who.
The Remembering and Resistance portion of the night was dedicated to recognizing the Alabama veterans who served in World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
Guests enjoyed a light-hearted look at the many Belgian contributions and indulgences that we experience here in America. The list was quite enlightening, from the well-known decadent chocolates to the not-so-well-known and quite decieivng in terminology… the classic “french” fry.
All in all, it was certainly a memorable evening for us, as I’m sure for the guests as well.
